About
Teaching Philosophy
I have spent my entire life in education. The daughter of a middle/high school French teacher, I grew up in schools and around teachers. I learned the most about what I believe it takes to be an effective teacher by watching the best teacher I knew, my mom, and by paying attention to other good teachers I experienced along the way, as well. Being kind, fair, patient, and expressing things clearly seems for me to promote the best and most comfortable environment for people to learn, regardless of the topic.
About Me
I enjoyed teaching high school math (AP Calculus, Trig/Analysis, Geometry, Algebra, and a little bit of every other kind of math, it seems!) before finishing my masters in Instructional Technology and moving to a newly-established technology training position in Rockingham County Public Schools in 1996 where I've been so pleased to be ever since. I have great respect for the technology staff with whom I work and the many, many outstanding and wonderful teachers I have grown to know while I have been in Rockingham.
Most recently, I've eased into the role of working closely with our Instructional Technology Resource Teachers (ITRTs), a fantastic group of classroom-teachers-turned-technology-coaches who do amazing work to help our Rockingham teachers learn and use technology with their students to transform learning for our Rockingham students.
My husband, Pat, is an Elementary Physical Education teacher at Elkton Elementary in RCPS.
Our son, Rob, is a 2017 graduate of Clemson University and the PGA Golf Management Program there. He enjoys a career in the golf industry as a PGA professional, specifically as a full time PGA golf instructor at Boar's Head Resort in Charlottesville, VA. #GoTigers!
With Rob and his wonderful wife, Anna, we enjoy doing fun things and going fun places!
